YSL

I had no plan to do a shoe-of-the-day post, but when I flipped my calendar page today and found this 1997 slithering snake sandal emblazoned with the distinctive overlapping YSL logo, I thought I’d give props to the late, influential designer, Yves Saint Laurent.

  1. I was sadden to hear that Yves Saint Laurent past away this past weekend. He was the first couturier to use BLACK WOMEN on the runways of Paris long before it became fashionable. There is a HUGE hole in my heart but I will do my best to reflect his standards in my work.

  2. Indeed. Who can forget Mounia throughout her reign on the runway?

And when Monsieur St. Laurent took his bow at his final show in 2002, Mounia was there, alongside him, in “Le Smoking” looking as beautiful as ever.
